The Arkansas Chapter . . .
Offers annual training
for church secretaries at a conference training session called
“Vital Signs” and another one in August to help learn new skills
and strengthen the United Methodist Church connection.

The Professional Association of United Methodist Church Secretaries
(PAUMCS) was organized April 14, 1982 in Dallas, Texas.
On retreat at
Mount Eagle Christian Center, a group of district/conference
secretaries voted unanimously to become affiliated with the
Professional Association of United Methodist Church Secretaries.
Thus, the Arkansas Chapter was organized on October 10, 2006.
On November 9, the four secretaries who were National Members
of PAUMCS got together to select officers and named the group
Arkansas Chapter of PAUMCS.
The 2007 Executive Committee is Libby Gray, President; Connie
Thomas, Vice President; Karen Branton, Communications Director; and
Fonda Kirkman, Secretary/Treasurer.
These four individuals are the founding members of the
Arkansas Chapter.
All
six members of the chapter were in attendance at the 25th
Anniversary Annual Conference of the PAUMCS in Dallas, Texas where
the chapter was recognized on April 13, 2007.
The
Arkansas Chapter offers annual training for church secretaries at a
conference training session called "Vital Signs" and another one in
August to help learn new skills and strengthen the United Methodist
Church connection. The Chapter also encourages friendship and
camaraderie, which brings with it a support system for its members
within the districts and conference to improve our connection.
What
does PAUMCS mean to its members?
When I received a brochure in 2004, I thought this is a way to
improve my connection and give me the support that is missing in
the district office.
I joined PAUMCS and went to my first conference in
Greensboro, NC in 2004.
I had so much fun and met many other secretaries from all
over the nation. I
decided then that we need this in Arkansas.
Now we are opening the door for you to walk through. Come
on in and join the fun! — Fonda Kirkman, North Central
District
