Libby Gray in the Arkansas Conference Office, Fonda Kirkman of the North Central District Office,  Cindy Parker of the South Central District Office, Connie Thomas of the Northeast District Office, LaDonna Busby of the North District Office, and Karen Branton of the Central District Office attended the 26th Annual Conference of the Professional Association of  United Methodist Church Secretaries (PAUMCS) which was held April 17-19, 2008, in Dayton, Ohio.  Approximately 250 professionals representing United Methodist offices on various levels from across the nation were in attendance.
A seminar led by Cea Cohen Elliott, professional motivational speaker, wellness and fitness coach, and seminar leader, proved her mission in life is to help others laugh more and live better.  Barbara A. Wourms, presented a “how-to” program to help each person connect with her or his own personal image and live life to the fullest.  Catherine Ritch Guess, published composer and author of inspirational fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, specifically designed a workshop to help PAUMCS members discern their calling, understand it fully, and discover how to soar to new heights in ministry.
The PAUMCS Annual Conference provides continuing education and a supportive professional network.  The organization, established in 1982 under the General Council on Finance and Administration of the United Methodist Church, fosters individual growth, professional development, and spiritual enrichment for members from the United States, Russia and Africa.
Fonda Kirkman received recognition as a certified professional United Methodist Church secretary after attending the 2007 PAUMCS Institute at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Libby Gray received recognition for renewing her professional certification.  She is a member of the Class of 2005.  She was also elected to the Professional Training Standards Committee for PAUMCS.
